Fixtures and Fixings- Beginnings

I made some quick structures using different materials such as wood, paper, cardboard, plastic and different fixings such as paperclips, elastic bands and glue. I experimented with the forms of my figures, taking them apart and reforming them. 

I created some different shapes and sizes of triangles and stacked them together, locked with elastic bands. This created a fascinating structure that leaned forwards. To me it reminded me of a telescope, but made with more abstract shapes. I could create a folding telescope, where all of the sections fold into each other and make storing the object easier.

I also created an object made from paper, a kebab stick and plastic cable ties. This was held together with elastic bands also, but I used a cut in the paper to secure the cable ties. To me, it was reminiscent of a film prop like a sword, and also mimicked the shape of a birds head and beak. I therefore decided to take this project forward and create a decorated prop sword for a film.
