For my final graphic design piece I used the phrase 'Don't Touch my Hair'. This was something personal to me because I have always disliked when people touch my hair without asking me. I developed some ideas which focused on this phrase both with words and illustration. My main focus of course had to be the words, and so I looked at ways that I could intertwine words with illustration and image. My outcomes were three posters which all used the same slogan but slightly different word layout and imagery. The first poster that I made did not use the image of the hand, but instead I tried to use the word 'Don't' as a replacement for the hand, pushing itself down onto the hair at the bottom of the page. This composition to me enhanced the oppressive feel of the hand travelling downwards and dangerously close to touching the hair. It is blocked by the word 'Touch' which is made out of the hair and seems to act as a protective barrier to the rest of the hair. I took a different approach for the other two posters- the second poster, which was my favourite, used a menacing silhouette of a clawed hand which made the poster feel more uncomfortable, as there was no longer a feeling of protection. This evoked my message more strongly in my opinion as this is an exaggerated depiction of my feelings when people touch my hair without asking. I talked to my peer members who all agreed that they also disliked the feeling and action, and that this poster is the strongest in evoking this feeling. For my last poster the mood is less threatening but I like the use of black and white.
