Bridge Building

I went out around the area to find examples of spans. I looked at bridges, piers, pylon wires and cablecars. The image I used the most for the bridge inspiration was the pier- using criss-crossing bars to support the bridge. When we started to make the bridge at first, our team communication was flawed. We didn't know what parts of the bridge to make first and responses to pitched ideas were slow. However, we finally found a rhythm and split into sub teams to make different parts of the bridge: the supports underneath, the bridge itself, the tension supports and finally the walls. The supports underneath the bridge I think were the most successful as we managed to constantly re-think our ideas and solve problems. They resulted in a smooth curve which the remote control car could drive up easily, and the bridge was also high enough to fit a folded table underneath. Despite the confusion and difficulty at first, I think that our bridge was very successful.
