I decided to turn the gift list into pulp after soaking it in water. I had to re-soak it twice to be able to fully crush it.

Fixtures and Fixings- Maya 3D model and Laser Cut Test

I decided to work towards my final piece and create a prop sword for a game using Autodesk Maya. The process began with me researching swords that included animal features in their designs. I then created some design drawings and produced a final design idea before translating it to a Maya project. I spent around 5 hours producing the final 3D rendered model, and I liked the final outcome. Myself and peers felt that the model did appear to be influenced by the shape of a bird's head, and that the sword could be pictured in a game. I also had the chance to create a file on illustrator to be laser cut. To test it I created a cardboard cube. I had made some error as parts that weren't supposed to be cut were cut out by accident, however I know how to improve the file if I were to re-cut the cube.

Individualisation- Beginnings

I began by looking at selected words my client chose in the quiz. At first I did some broad research covering topics like: night, suburban, manmade, planes, winter, and traditional. I then met with the client and discussed what to make. I decided to create an arctic pilot character for a game, inspired by the words plane, winter and manmade. To develop this idea, I looked at a Hollywood Costume book and an art book for the game 'Bioshock: Infinite' to explore different styles. For example, I looked at modern, futuristic, steampunk and traditional styles of outfit ideas that would be suitable for the pilot character. I also looked at material swatches to get an idea of contemporary and traditional materials that would be able to withstand the conditions a pilot would fly in. KNB EFX Group Inc. have worked on The Walking Dead, The Chronicles of Narnia, Suicide Squad, Hateful 8, Breaking Bad and many other projects. The company was founded by Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger in 1988, and specialises in character prosthetic makeup, animatronics, creature creations and animal replicas. The making practises used are traditional in the sense that they make all models and prosthetics by hand, and they are highly sought by Hollywood directors for big titles. The KNB building in California provides a substantially large studio space, of 20,000 square ft.
